1750771-4 Film Texas, Missouri The Estes letters : a collection of correspondence of the Aaron Estes family of Texas Smith, Floyd (Main Author) Contains correspondence of the Estes family. Aaron Estes (1820-1864) was born in Franklin County, Missouri to Hiram and Lucy Richardson Estes. In 1838 he married Elizabeth Wilson and they were the parents of at least ten children. In 1847 the family moved to Texas where they had a ranch. In 1861 Aaron joined the Confederate army. He was captured and imprisoned in Illinois in but was released in a prisoner exchange. he was unable to return home, however, because the Union army controled the Mississippi River. So Aaron joined Hood's Brigade and was killed at the Battle of Jonesboro near Atlanta, Georgia.
